Top Snowboarding Locations to Consider

Learning how to snowboard can seem daunting at first, especially to a beginner. It will likely take a few days, plus some bumps and bruises, to start gliding smoothly downhill. While there are a few tips and techniques that can make this learning process easier, few factors are as important as the choice of location. Snowboarding enthusiasts such as Razi Salih know that the right slope can make the experience better, so knowing where to go is vital.

From newcomers to expert snowboarders, the following spots are bound to provide the required thrill and excitement.

Whistler Blackcomb, Canada

There is something for everyone at Whistler Blackcomb, which is both vast and breathtakingly beautiful. Novice riders can enjoy their time on the groomed runs, while the more adventurous can opt for the cliffs, tree runs and open bowls that dot the mountain scenery. On a clear day, riders can head to the summit to descend the largest vertical drop in the world.

Young children and beginners will have plenty of open space on the Big Easy Terrain Garden, which is non-intimidating to anyone learning the sport. For the more experienced riders looking to try new tricks, the 1,800 to 3,500 vertical metres of skiing are perfect.

Cervinia, Italy

Located on the Italy-Switzerland border, Cervinia offers miles of stunning views and gentle runs suitable for beginners and intermediate riders. The peak, located in Switzerland, is more than 3,600 metres hightranslating to a lot of quality snow for snowboarders. The view of the Matterhorn is an attraction, and Cervinia itself is relatively affordable for those mindful of their budget.

Chamonix, France

Chamonix is a historic ski town that is considered a mecca for riders who crave adventure and excitement. Its trails are not for the faint-hearted, thanks to rugged terrain set against the Mont Blanc backdrop. From steep tree runs to glacial runs and with natural freestyle features, Chamonix is where intermediates take a step towards becoming experts.

Breckenridge, Colorado (the United States)

Breckenridge is where many elite ski and snowboard athletes train for competitions, which speaks to the challenging nature of the mountain terrain. There is an Olympic-calibre half-pipe and five progressively-sized terrain parks that cater to individuals of all skill levels. The mountain has played host to numerous snowboard competitions throughout its history, while its high altitude ensures riders can enjoy the snow from November until late April.
